Many different varieties of honey cake have been created around the world, such as the Lekach of the askenazi jews, the Czech Medovnik or the Armenian Marlenka. This is an easy and basic glazed honey cake recipe.
Ingredients
- 200 grams of flour with yeast
- 170 grams of multifloral honey
- 140 grams of butter
- 80 grams of sugar
- 2 beaten eggs
- Water
You can add extra ingredients such as orange, apple, hazelnuts, or plums.
Preparation
- Place the butter, honey, sugar and a tablespoon of water in a pan.
- You must heat and stir the mix until it melts.
- Later remove the pan from the fire and mix the content with the beaten eggs and the flour.
- Next, put the dough in a mold and bake the cake for 45 minutes at 180º.
- Let it cold until it's warm; add then the frosting.
- To prepare the frosting mix 50 grams of sugar, a teaspoon of honey and a pair of teaspoons of hot water.
